The group was founded in 1978 in Braintree in Essex to cater for the needs of gay people. Due to local demand, the East London and Essex Borders Group was established as a separate and independent group in April 1982.

Last year we celebrated our 25th anniversary, which in the world of local social gay groups is some achievement.
